The Partners for a Better Community presented the George Sink Valor Award, which awarded one student for their strength and hard work inside and outside the classroom. More specifically, this award is given to a student who has overcome an array of misfortunes while retaining a 3.0 GPA or higher. The winning student continues to soar in their community and school despite life’s hurdles.
Mr. Sink, a Vietnam veteran and self-reliant businessman, has overcome various obstacles himself. He would not be the successful lawyer he is today had he not conquered challenges along the way. We must always get back up and keep going when life knocks us down. We are rewarded when we face our hardships rather than allow them to weaken us.
The recipient of this award deserves recognition for their success that didn’t come easily. The winning student has the right attitude and won’t stop pushing themselves until all their work is complete. This student shows dedication, resilience, and selflessness in the face of adversity. They are an inspiration to all and possess the tools needed to excel in life.
