Frozen pizzas are being recalled because they could contain an undeclared allergen, according to news reports.
Trader Joe's said nearly 131,000 pounds of its frozen, packaged Trader Joe's Pizza Al Pollo Asado is being recalled nationwide. The recall stems from incorrect packaging that doesn't declare wheat as an allergen on the product label, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The recalled Al Pollo Asado pizzas were produced between January 27 and March 27, according to news reports. California-based Completely Fresh Foods Inc., makes the pizza products.
According to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the health risk is low, but consumers should still check for this product, especially if they or a loved one has a wheat allergy.
As a North Charleston personal injury lawyer , I'm glad to hear that no reported allergic reactions or food poisoning cases have been linked to this recall. I urge consumers with allergen risks to pay attention to this recall. Consumers can throw away the recalled food or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
