Originally from Western North Carolina, Heather moved to the Lowcountry to attend Charleston School of Law – as a native of the mountains, Heather wanted to experience coastal living. Prior to law school, Heather attended Mars Hill University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in Political Science and was named The Outstanding Graduate in Political Science. During Heather’s time as a law student, she served on the Trial Advocacy Board and was awarded Best Overall Advocate in the 2015 Trial Advocacy Board Internal Competition
Service has always been important to Heather. Not only was Heather an AmeriCorps volunteer during her undergraduate studies, serving in both Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, but she also completed over 100 pro bono hours during law school, earning her an Outstanding Pro Bono Service award. Being the daughter of a U.S. Navy Veteran and sister of a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran, Heather is both committed to and passionate about helping Veterans, understanding the significance of their service and the sacrifices they have made.
During law school, Heather interned for the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps at Joint Base Charleston, where she met her husband, an active duty Crew Chief in the U.S. Air Force. When Heather is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their Labrador retriever, attending church, reading and outdoor activities.
