More walnuts are being recalled after companies discover Salmonella-contaminated nuts were also supplied for their products.
Mojave Foods Corporation is recalling 60 packages of El Guapo Shelled Walnuts.
The recalled product includes:
El Guapo Nuez Entera / Shelled Walnuts sold in 1-ounce packages, UPC 4498933144, date code 5527. The code date is embossed on the front of the package under the El Guapo banner.
As a North Charleston foodborne illness attorney I’m glad to hear that no illnesses have been reported from the walnuts so far.
I advise anyone who has the walnut packages to throw it out or return it immediately. A Salmonella food poisoning i nfection is potentially life-threatening and symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 7-8 hours after infection. Symptoms may be more severe in young and elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.
The recalled product was distributed only in southern California and sold in retail stores.
Fore replacement or reimbursement, contact the Mojave Customer Service number at 1-800-995-8906, Extension 114. Live assistance is available on the phone from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday, according to a press release.
