A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was injured in a car accident Tuesday in Richland County, S.C., according to news reports .
The accident occurred on Farrow Road in Richland County when the trooper was driving in the number one lane heading toward Interstate 77, according to news reports. As he was traveling on the interstate, he saw another vehicle make a traffic violation and made a U-turn and crossed the median. As he entered the freeway, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police said the vehicle that struck the trooper was driving too fast for conditions.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to news reports.
