The government has been working to make cribs safer for infants. But with newly regulated cribs being produced and old, unsafe ones being phased out, there are safety steps to take.
There are many ways to help ensure your baby’s crib is safe. Do your research to see if the crib you’re using was recalled by visiting recalls.gov. If you bought a crib set, keep in mind that this could be potentially dangerous as babies would not be able to roll away or move from underneath an object that is preventing them from breathing. The CPSC recommends firm mattresses, which prevents the baby from becoming stuck between the crib frame and mattress.
The Consumer Protection Safety Commission last year to ban cribs with a traditional drop side in the United States. The ban is to address the high number of infant deaths in connection with the cribs
According to news reports, using a hand-me-down crib is also potentially dangerous since many older models do not follow the same safety standards. The CPSC also says the best way to avoid SIDS is by putting the infant on their back when they sleep. As an auto accident lawyer Chalrleston, I hope that nobody is adversely affected by a crib.
