Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 1,600 new Ford Explorers because of a faulty back seat design that could be dangerous in a car accident, according to news reports .
The recall, which affects 2011 model-year Ford Explorers built between July and December 2010, was issued Monday to address the second row of seats that do not meet federal safety standards. They seats may have a faulty manual reclining mechanism that might not provide the required strength in the event of a crash.
As a North Charleston car accident attorney, , I’m glad to hear that Ford caught the problem before any reports of personal injuries or car accidents occurred as a result of the recall. According to Ford, they will begin notifying consumers about the recall on February 14. I urge owners of the recalled vehicles to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.
“The recall adds to the growing cost of quality and safety campaigns at the No. 2 U.S. automaker. Ford said last week that it would recall nearly 363,000 of its top-selling F-150 pickup trucks because of a defect with interior door handles,” according to news reports.
