Homeowners clearing their yards of snow or long green grass may be using a faulty machine. Snow blowers and lawn mowers are being recalled to address a risk of fuel leaks, burns and fires, according to news reports.
Nearly 23,000 Toro Power Clear Snowblowers and more than 6,000 Toro Recycler lawn mowers are included in the recall, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled products include:
- 18,000 Toro Power Clear Snowblowers in the U.S. and another 5,000 sold in Canada
- Snowblowers: model number of 38588 with serial numbers of 310000001 to 310999999 and 311000001 to 311003576, and model number 38589 with serial numbers of 310000001 to 310999999 and 311000001 to 311999999. The model number and serial numbers are found on a decal on the bottom rear of the snowblower.
- 6,000 Toro 20″ Recycler Mowers sold in the U.S. and another 200 sold in Canada
- Mowers: model number of 20323 with serial numbers of 310000001 to 310999999. The model and serial numbers are found on a decal on the left rear of the mower.
Already, 500 consumers have reported a faulty carburetor that leaks fuel. The fuel leak could be ignited by an outside source, creating a fire or burn hazard.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in connection to this recall.
The recall also includes 6,000 Toro 20″ Recycler Mowers sold in the U.S. and another 200 sold in Canada. The recalled mowers have a model number of 20323 with serial numbers of 310000001 to 310999999. The model and serial numbers are found on a decal on the left rear of the mower.
