The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Caterpillar Inc. is not doing enough to keep consumers safe, according to news reports.

OSHA has cited Caterpillar – a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and a wide offering of related services – for $66,000 for three safety violations, according to news reports.

OSHA said in a news release Monday that the employee was injured while trying to clear a jammed piece of equipment in a Caterpillar plant in East Peoria. The agency said Caterpillar failed to cut power to the equipment and failed to provide related training. One of the violations is considered serious, which means it could result in serious injury or death.

The company now has 15 days to comply with OSHA’s report.
