Off-road electric buggies are being recalled because the vehicles could accelerate without warning or action.
Bad Boy Enterprises announced the recall of 9,300 buggies Wednesday, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission .
There have already been 59 complaints of the unintended acceleration causing personal injuries among drivers, including accidents that have resulted in broken bones.
The recalled buggies include: the Bad Boy Classic, made from early 2003 to May of this year. The models may have hunter green, red, black or camouflage paint. The XT model is not being recalled.
“About 3,900 of those vehicles were recalled in October 2009 for the same problem, but earlier this year the company admitted that the fix did not work, resulting in this second, expanded recall,” according to news releases .
As a North Charleston personal injury attorney , I advise anyone who ones one of the recalled buggies to stop driving them immediately. The problem could cause accidents and personal injuries among those who use the vehicles. Bad Boy buggie owners who do not have a vehicle affected by the recall should still pay attention to the function of their buggies, as an extended recall could be possible in the future.
