The Keebler elves made a minor, but potentially life-threatening mistake, as some cookie products were labeling with ones that could cause severe allergic reactions. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration , Keebler, the second-largest cookie and cracker manufacturer in the U.S. is recalling some of its cookies because they are labeled incorrectly.
Keebler is recalling a limited quantity of 8-count cartons of Fudge Shoppe® Jumbo Fudge Sticks because the packages may actually contain individually wrapped Jumbo Peanut Butter Sticks, according to the FDA. The company said the recall does not affect individually wrapped cookie sticks.
The recall could be potentially dangerous to consumers who have a peanut allergy.
“Approximately 17,000 8-count cartons of the recalled product were distributed to brokers and convenience stores in the U.S. They are marked with UPC Code 3010053332 and a lot code of AS 07 27 1A,” according to the FDA.
