According to an article published by Architectural Digest, a new helmet, called the Skully AR-1, will give motorcyclists 180-degree views, meaning bikers will not have to take their eyes off the road in order to check blind spots. This helmet is designed with a transparent heads-up display built into the visor, which will display the current speed of the bike. Under that feature, riders can see the view behind them due to an ultrawide-angle camera that is built onto the back of the helmet. In addition, the helmet can be synced with smartphone devices so that GPS direction can also be displayed on the visor.
To keep motorcyclists extra safe, the helmet has also been designed to support voice commands. With this, individuals using the AR-1 can take advantage of the following features:
- Helmet to helmet communication
- Hands-free phone calls
- Music streaming
As of now, the helmet weighs roughly 3.8 pounds and is available for almost $1,500.

Who Designed the AR-1?
Marcus Weller, the CEO of Skully, a new company located in San Francisco, designed the helmet after he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident while he was in Barcelona. The accident occurred when he briefly removed his eyes from the road to view his GPS. In 2013, three years after his accident, he designed the AR-1’s prototype. Now, he hopes this new technology can protect other riders from serious injuries and even death.
