Toyota Tundra pickup trucks are being recalled because they could have a faulty rear drive shaft, according to news reports .
Nearly 51,000 2010 model Toyota Tundras are being recalled because a small number of the trucks may have a “slip yoke component in the shaft assembly that was improperly cast in the foundry process and could break,” according to news reports. The issue affects approximately 0.5 percent of the vehicles, according to Toyota.
Already, one customer has reported a slip yoke in their truck, according to Toyota. Thankfully, the automaker has not received any reports of car accidents or personal injuries related to the issue.
As a Beaufort car accident lawyer , I’m glad to hear that Toyota is able to address the issue before any reports of car accidents or injuries occurred. I urge consumers to get this issue fixed in their Toyota trucks as soon as possible Owners will receive a letter in the mail next month when dealers can fix the issue. Only a limited number of the recalled vehicles will need the shaft replaced, but all should be examined.
