In a news release Thursday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Mico Bird Inc. is recalling certain school buses due to a safety issue with the seats.
Subject to recall are certain 2010 and 2011 G5 and MBII school buses. The buses were manufactured from April 14, 2010, through June 7, 2011 and are equipped with a C. E. White seat cushion. Because of an issue with the seat cushion self-latching mechanism, the seat cushions do not meet federal safety standards. In the event of a crash, the faulty seat cushion could flip up out of position, posing an increased risk of injury to bus occupants.
Bus owners affected by the recall will be notified by Micro Bird. The seats will be repaired free of charge.
As a Moncks Corner auto accident attorney , motorist and passenger safety is something that I am very aware of; I encourage owners of the recalled buses to arrange for the needed seat repairs as soon as possible. Because of my experience as a Moncks Corner personal injury lawyer , I know that the effects of a faulty product can range from inconvenience and frustration to injury and sometimes death. I hope that no one has been harmed as a result of the faulty seats.
