A worker at Myrtle Beach Adrenaline Adventures is still listed in serious condition after falling 60 feet from a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina zipline. He has been in the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center’s intensive care unit since the accident. As a result of the 60 foot fall from the high tower at Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures, the man suffered injuries resulting in two broken ankles, several broken ribs and serious damage to his hips.
According to WPDE News, a manager reported that the fall could have been prevented by securing a safety clip that was forgotten. The owners of Zipline Adventures have since conducted both internal and independent safety checks of the zipline and will add increased signage reminding employees of safety procedures.
As we now know, this accident could have been avoided. The outcome could have also been more severe, resulting in death.
When you think of ziplines, you think of fun and adventure, not serious injuries. It is scary to think that an accident on the job or on vacation could lead to an extended stay in the ICU.
