A man was seriously injured in a car accident along Interstate 20 on Tuesday, according to news reports .
The accident occurred near mile marker 110 on I-20 around 11 a.m. when a driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway on the right side and collide with a tree. The man was airlifted to the hospital, according to news reports. The extent of his injuries and his condition is unclear.
It is unclear whether any passengers were also inside the vehicle.
South Carolina Highway Patrol investigators are looking into the cause of the accident. They said traffic was not affected greatly by the crash on the busy freeway because the accident happened off the roadway.
