Lanyards are being recalled because they could cause a fall hazard, according to news reports.
Approximately 375,000 lanyards are recalled due to some missing a safety stitch. This could cause the lanyard to disconnect, resulting in a fall hazard. The affected product is the Scorpio and Absorbica lanyards that were manufactured before May 2011 with specific model numbers. The Scorpio lanyards are yellow and blue, with a pouch that has “PETZL” printed in white lettering. Those included in the recall were manufactured from 2005-2011. The Absorbica lanyards are available in various configurations, and have a black zippered pounch with the Prezl logo. They have a connector attachment on one end.
According to news reports, they were manufactured in France and sold to Petzl dealers across the country for $75-220.
