CDX Group Inc. is recalling desk and table lamps because they pose a fire and shock risk to consumers, according to news reports.
The Brooklyn N.Y.-based wholesale company announced the table and desk lamp recall Wednesday. Approximatly 1,600 desk and table lamps that have substandard electrical wiring are affected in the recall, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The lamps included in the recall were sold at CDX Group’s showroom, New Chens Discount, Concordia Trading Inc. and Grace Mini Market in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Dollar King in Lexington, Ky. from April 2010 through July 2010, according to news reports.
As a North Charleston personal injury attorney , I’m glad to hear that this recall was issued before any reports of injury or fire were reported. I hope the company is able to fix this problem to ensure their other lamps are not affected by this issue again. I urge consumers with these desk or table lamps to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or stop using it. Use of the lamps could cause serious safety hazards, which could result in personal injuries . For more information, consumers can contact the company at 877-253-4599.
