Giant home products retailer Ikea is recalling its handmade Rund glasses worldwide because the drinking glasses are prone to breaking, which can cause injuries to consumers.
Ikea said more than 250,000 glasses are affected by the recall, according to news reports . The Rund products come in three sizes.
Dozens of people have complained about the glasses breaking causing injuries. None of the reported injures, however, were serious, according to an Ikea spokeswoman.
A variation in the glass thickness is believed to have caused the breakages, according to an investigation by Ikea.
Approximately 1,562 Rund glasses of the 250,000 recalled were sold in Britain since October 2010. The glasses, however, were sold nationwide.
As a South Carolina personal injury lawyer , I urge anyone with these glasses in their home to stop using them immediately and return them to Ikea stores for a full refund. If the fragile glasses break, glass pieces can be strewn about, causing danger to those in contact with the item. Ikea is the world’s largest furniture retailer. The Swedish company has a reputation for offering for offering solid and reliable products at affordable prices.
