More than 140,000 vacuums are being recalled by a popular brand because of a fire risk and shock hazard, according to news reports .
Hoover Inc. is recalling about 142,000 Hoover® WindTunnel Canister Vacuums, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The vacuums affected include the:
- Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Canister Vacuum model S3755, silver and black in color, and comes with a power nozzle.
The recalled vacuum was sold at mass merchandisers, department stores and independent vacuum retailers nationwide and online from March 2003 to December 2008 for between $250 and $280, according to the report.
Hoover has already received 69 reports of “overheating or electrical malfunction, including one report of fire and smoke damage, and two reports of carpet damage,” according to news reports. One of the incidents resulted in a minor injury.
