Honda Motor Co. is recalling more than 40,000 Civic hybrids because of a faulty electrical system that could cause the engine to stall.
Honda said the recall includes the 2006-2007 model year Civic hybrids. The recall stems from an issue with the electrical system that could cause the headlights to turn off or the engine to stall. “The company says the voltage converter that relays power from the motor assist system to the vehicle’s electrical components could fail,” according to news reports.
There has been seven reports of stalling engines affecting the Civics so far, as well as 82 warranty claims connected to the problem, according to news reports.
As a North Charleston personal injury lawyer , I’m glad to hear that this engine problem has not resulted in injuries or accidents. I urge Civic owners to visit their dealership as soon as they are notified in mid-March to have the voltage converter replaced free of charge. This problem could cause vehicle accidents resulting in injury if the car stalls while being operated.
