Honda is recalling more than 18,000 Civics because of a faulty the fuel pump module that could cause a fuel leak in a car accident, according to news reports .
Honda said the recall affects approximately 18,056 MY 2011 Civics in the United States.
“If a vehicle is involved in a rollover crash, a cracked roll-over valve may allow fuel leakage from the gasoline tank into the evaporative emissions canister,” according to Honda.
Thankfully, no reports of car accidents or personal injuries related to the faulty module have been reported so far, according to Honda.
As a North Charleston car accident attorney , I’m glad Honda is recalling these vehicles before any reported injuries occurred. Honda said MY 2011 Civic owners will be notified in mid-April about the recall. Consumers can then take their vehicles to an authorized dealer for inspection.
