Ground turkey is being recalled because it could be contaminated with Salmonella, according to news reports .
The ground turkey is being linked to one death and dozens of illnesses in 26 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It said the strain has been connected in all cases.
USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service “has not linked these illnesses to a particular brand, product, or establishment, and therefore has not issued a recall,” spokesman Brian Mabry said Tuesday. “We are continuing to investigate this situation.”
“The illnesses date back to March, but the government hasn’t announced who produced the meat or initiated a recall,” according to news reports.
Investigators have linked cultures of ground turkey from four retailers to the salmonella contamination.
As a personal injury lawyer Orangeburg , I’m saddened to hear about this Salmonella outbreak. I urge consumers to properly cook their ground meat and avoid cross contamination to prevent getting sick.
While we don’t handle this kind of recall we feel that it’s important to educate the community to help protect their health and safety. If you have been injured by a recalled product, you might wish to contact a Orangeburg personal injury lawyer who can help.
