Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego sedans are being recalled, according to news reports. Ford Motor Corp. said it is recalling 2,945 vehicles because of a fuel-tank problem that could lead to leaks and possibly cause a fire.
The recall issue lies in a faulty fuel-tank that may not have consistent welds between the fuel tank and a part called the fuel filler neck spud, which can affect the strength of the joint where the filler tube connects with the fuel tank, according to news reports .
The recalled vehicles include:
- 2,945 2007 model year sedans built from Sept. 5 to Sept. 11, 2006
So far, no reports of car accidents or personal injuries have occurred as a result of the recall.
