Folly Beach, South Carolina, is considering a beach-wide ban on consuming alcohol on the premises in the upcoming weeks.
The city council will meet Tuesday to discuss whether to permanently ban alcohol on the beach or allow voters to have their say via an approved referendum in November. The ban has been in effect following a July 4 incident that involved four Folly Beach officers and one Charleston County deputy being hospitalized after a fight broke out on the beach. This was one in a series of alcohol-related incidents at or around Folly Beach.
