Five people were injured in a car accident on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, according to news reports.
The accident occurred around 10:25 a.m. Friday when a tractor-trailer crashed into a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by a 24-year-old man The semi-truck was driving faster than traffic when it had to abruptly slow down. The trucker swerved to miss hitting the car, but struck the left rear portion of the vehicle, which forced Thomas off the right side of the road into the guardrail, according to news reports.
The truck driver then lost control of the tractor-trailer and spun out, causing it to overturn and block all eastbound lanes. Other vehicles then slammed into the truck.
Multiple vehicles had to be transported to a hospital, but they have been treated and released, according to news reports.
