Ducati motorcycles are being recalled because of a faulty kick stand, according to news reports .
Ducati said it is recalling certain model year 2011 Diavel motorcycles because the bikes’ stand could be defective, causing it to bend, break and letting the bike fall over. Approximately 919 motorcycles are being recalled.
“In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the company said the affected motorcycles were built from May 18, 2010, through June 13, 2011. On these bikes, the side stand was manufactured with “insufficient material in the pivot area,” Ducati said. As a result, the weak point could cause a bend or break near the pivot. If that happens and the parked bike tips over, it could injure the rider or bystanders.”
No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall thus far, according to news reports.
As an Orangeburg car accident attorney , I hope Ducati was able to catch this problem before any injuries were caused. I urge motorcycle owners to get this problem fixed as soon as they are notified to do so, in order to prevent any personal injuries from occurring.
