Holidays are for spending time with family and friends, eating good food and remembering what we’re thankful for. Unfortunately, it can also be a dangerous time, especially on the road.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, drivers are more likely to be involved in car accidents near three upcoming holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Use these safe driving tips from a car accident attorney , to be drive safe this holiday season:
1. Passenger safety. Obey seatbelt laws, properly restrain children in booster and car seats, bring distractions for kids with toys and games so they don’t distract the driver, and stock up on snacks, water and motion sickness pills on longer trips.
2. Vehicle safety. Get an oil change, ensure windshield wipers are working properly, fill washer fluid reservoir, check headlights, keep tires properly inflated and be sure to check that your tire tread depth is safe.
3. Driver safety. Don’t drive when you’re tired, and always avoid drunk driving. Position yourself correctly in the seat for optimum control and always pay attention to street signs.
