Pogo sticks are being recalled because they pose a fall hazard to children, according to news reports .
Approximately 159,000 pogo sticks are affected by the recall by Bravo Sports. According to the company, the rubber at the bottom of the pogo stick may wear quickly, and the handlebar end caps may come off, causing the sharp edges to be exposed.
So far, 82 reports of the bottom tips wearing have been reported, along with five reported injuries. One girl sustained a skull fracture and chipped tooth, while another needed stitches after cutting her chin and lip. Other various injuries included scrapes, teeth pushed in, and hits to the head.
The recalled pogo stick is available in multiple colors. The models included are the Disney Hannah Montana, Toy Story, Cars, Disney Princess, and Fairies. There are Disney labels between the handlebars. They were sold in Kmart, Target, and Toys R US stores from February, 2009 to June, 2011.
