Tofutti Brands is recalling its dairy-free ice cream dessert is because they could contain milk.
Tofutti Brands’ Yours Truly milk-free frozen dessert cones could contain trace levels of milk, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration . Twenty-five pallets of its 4-pack desserts are being recalled. The product included in the recall can be identified by:
- Manufacturing facility code 18-497 which will appear printed on one of the two end flaps of the box of the YOURS TRULY CONES along with a production code of either 2330 or 2350, which will follow right after the plant code.
The dessert cones are labeled as milk free, so the items pose a serious or life-threatening injury to those who have an allergy or severe insensitivity or intolerance to milk products. The bulk of these 25 pallets were sold along the east coast and the Midwest. None of the suspected products were sold to west coast distributors or stores, according to the recall.
As a North Charleston foodborne illness attorney , I’m glad the company issued this recall before any serious reports of food poisoning occurred. I urge consumers to throw out the affected products or return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the Company at 908-272-2400, Monday-Friday, from 9:00AM-5:00PM EST, or email at info@tofutti.com.
