Bassettbaby cribs is recalling an additional 90,000 cribs to their 9 million cribs recalled since 2005 because their moveable sides could detach from the crib and pose a strangulation hazard for infants.
The cribs has “drop side” rails that move up and down to make it easier for parents to lift a child out of the crib. The dangerous sides pose a strangulation hazard to infants.
Since 2000, at least 32 infants or toddlers have suffocated or strangled after those rails detached, creating a space between the side of the crib and the mattress. Children can also fall out of the crib if the rail is detached.
The recalled cribs are made from wood, with a metal mattress support. They were sold at stores and online for $200 to $500.
As a North Charleston personal injury lawyer I urge parents to stop using the cribs immediately and contact Bassettbaby for a kit that will stop the rail from moving. If your child has suffered injuries from a recalled crib, contact a South Carolina personal injury lawyer .
