Consumers who open up a package of store-bought cookie dough may find a dangerous surprise.
Some packages of Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Ginger Spice Cookie Dough actually contain Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, which can be deadly if it comes in contact with an allergen sufferer.
Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is recalling the Ginger Spice Cookie Dough that comes in a 16 oz. package with UPC 5051379045210 and an “Enjoy by” date of DEC 03. It was sold in Fresh & Easy stores in California, Nevada and Arizona.
All products have been removed from store shelves, but some consumers may still have the products in their homes.
As a North Charleston personal injury lawyer , I urge consumers to return the unused products or empty product container for a refund or throw the product away. Consumers with friends or family members who are allergic to nuts should be especially careful, as the allergen risks serious or life-threatening reactions.
The peanut allergen is estimated to affect 3.3 million Americans, with approximately 10 deaths a year related to fatal reactions.
Consumers who have questions or concerns about this recall should contact the Fresh & Easy 24-hour toll free number at 1 (800) 648-8622, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
