Chrysler is recalling 2010 and 2011 Dodge Ram pickup trucks because of a faulty brake pedal on the trucks.
The diesel engine trucks have a glitch that cause the brake pedals on the truck to be slow to return, increasing the risk of a car accident . More than 76,000 Dodge Rams are being recalled, according to news reports.
The trucks affected by the recall include the 2010 and 2011 model Ram trucks that were built at Chrysler’s Saltillo, Mexico plant between March 2009 and October.
The problem is caused by the power steering fluid reservoir’s cap design, which could cause the breaks on the trucks to return slowly after being applied.
So far, 175 complaints have been reported so far about the truck’s break lights remaining on longer than expected after the breaks were engaged, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
As a North Charleston car accident attorney, , I’m glad to hear that none of the defected vehicles have been reportedly caused injuries in those who have noticed the faulty breaks. I hope Chrysler is able to address this problem before any accident occur and ensure a similar problem doesn’t happen again.
Chrysler said it will begin notifying customers of the problem beginning in February and replace the power steering cap for free.
