Sauteed chicken products are being recalled by the Pampanga Food Company, Inc., because it could be contaminated with the undeclared allergen, whey.
Pampanga Food Company issued the Class I recall, which means it has a high health risk, because whey could be dangerous in those with food poisoning allergies.
The recalled chicken comes in 30 lbs. bags, containing 3 lbs. individual packages which have the establishment number “P-9029-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were packaged from May 6, 2010 to December 6, 2010.
According to news reports, the production date is listed as a lot number on each package ranging from “0506″ to “1203.” The FSIS discovered the problem during a routine inspection, and so far no reports of illness due to the undeclared ingredient in the chicken sold to restaurants in California and Hawaii have been reported. The FSIS will ensure the company contacts customers including restaurants to see steps are taken to remove the product completely from homes and restaurants.
As a North Charleston foodborne illness lawyer , I urge families with friends or family members with a whey allergy to inspect any sautéed chicken package they to verify they are not part of the recall. If you do have the recalled item throw it away or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund. If you have any questions, you may reach the company’s president at 714-553-1336.
