A North Charleston police officer is recovering from a collision she got into Tuesday morning while driving her patrol car, according to news reports.
The collision occurred when the North Charleston police officer was driving on Michaux Parkway near the Dorchester Road intersection around midnight, according to news reports. The trooper lost control of her patrol car, sending it off the roadway, crashing into a light pole and then continuing on to hit a tree.
The police officer was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina where she was released later Tuesday morning. “She was coherent at the scene of the accident and was able to talk and answer questions,” according to news reports.
It is unclear how the single-vehicle collision occurred, however, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said rain at the time of the incident could have contributed to the crash. The highway patrol is investigating the collision.
It is unclear if the police officer was on call during the wreck.
