Federal officials have linked ground turkey produced by Cargill Inc., according to news reports .
Cargill turkey meat is being linked to one California death and at least 76 other salmonella illnesses nationwide.
Approximately 36 million pounds of ground turkey produced by Cargill is affected by the recall.
There is not a complete recall list yet, but according to its website, Cargill lists brands of raw turkey products including Marval, Honeysuckle White and RiverSide.
“California, which confirmed six cases of salmonella, is among several states with multiple cases of infection blamed on ground turkey. At least 10 people have been reported to be sickened in Ohio and Michigan and nine fell ill in Texas. At least 22 people have been hospitalized after becoming ill with the foodborne bacteria resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.”
As personal injury lawyer Orangeburg I’m saddened to hear about this Salmonella outbreak. I urge consumers to properly cook their ground meat and avoid cross contamination to prevent getting sick.
While we don’t handle this kind of recall we feel that it’s important to educate the community to help protect their health and safety. If you have been injured by a recalled product, you might wish to contact a Orangeburg personal injury lawyer who can help.
