Girl’s bracelet kits are being recalled because the beads could contain high levels of lead, according to news reports.
American Girl Crafts pearly beads & ribbon bracelets kits are affected by the recall. The jewelry kits were distributed by EKSuccess Brands, a division of Wilton Brands Inc., of Woodbridge, Ill., and sold at Michaels Stores and other retailers nationwide from September 2009 through June 2011, according to news reports.
According to news reports, the “surface coating on some of the beads contains excessive levels of lead, which is prohibited under federal law.”
Nearly 75,000 kits are affected by the recall.
As a Orangeburg personal injury attorney, I urge parents to check their children’s toys for this recalled product. I’m glad to hear this product was recalled before any injuries or illnesses were reported. Lead can cause health problems, particularly in those with compromised immune systems, including infants, small children, and pregnant women.
While we don’t handle this type of recall we feel that it’s important to educate the community that there has been a recall to help protect your safety. If you have been injured in a recall like this you might wish to contact a Charleston Personal Injury Lawyer who can help.
