Mountain bicycles are being recalled because of a faulty front fork steering tube that can break and cause riders to fall, according to news reports .
Rocky Mountain Bicycles is recalling about 325 Rocky Mountain Bicycles after discovering the front fork steering tube can break, which poses a fall injury hazard to users, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall was announced on March 10, 2011.
So far, four riders have reported falls, with three sustaining of cuts and scrapes injuries and one report of a broken wrist.
“The recalled bicycles have Rocky Mountain Bicycle printed on the frame. Only bicycles with certain serial numbers, located on the bottom side of the bicycle, are included in this recall,” according to the CPSC press release.
The following Rocky Mountain Bicycles are affected by the recall:
• Model: Solo CX – Year: 2008-2010, Colors: Gun metal gray, white
• Model: Solo CXD – Year: 2008-2009, Color: Gun metal gray, titanium silver
• Model: Metropolis SEA – Year: 2010, Color: Gray
