An auto accident in Columbia snarled traffic on westbound Interstate 20 Thursday morning causing delays, report news sources .
The 6:30 a.m. crash reduced the freeway to a single lane at Broad River Road for vehicles to filter through, causing at least a 20 minute delay. Traffic backed up for more than 7 miles while reports of similar incidents surfaced from across the Midlands with news of accidents tying the morning commute for many motorists.
Heavy rains Thursday morning lead to water pooling on roadways and considerable low-level flooding. More rain was expected though out the Midlands during the day, so reports early in the day predicted continued wet road conditions, setting the sage for potentially more accidents and traffic delays.
As a Columbia car accident lawyer , roadway safety is something that I am very conscious of; I encourage drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to be mindful of their surroundings. Be sure to make adjustments for inclement weather including leaving more space between vehicles and giving extra time to arrive at your destination.
Because of my experience as a Columbia personal injury attorney , I am very aware of the split-second difference between everything seeming fine and a terrible vehicle crash. I urge all roadway users to always practice safe travel habits.
