Justin Mims was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. At an early age, Justin’s parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and desire to help others. His father retired as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the United States Postal Service, and his mom is a Partner at Riser, McLaurin and Gibbons, a prominent Accounting Firm in North Charleston.
Justin attended both public and private schools throughout the Charleston area and graduated from First Baptist High School in 2000. Upon graduation, Justin attended the College of Charleston, where he was awarded the Academic Founders’ Scholarship and the Life Scholarship. In 2004, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English and a minor in Creative Writing. After graduating from college, Justin attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2007.
During law school, Justin worked for the Department of Revenue and was Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi, a prestigious legal fraternity. After graduation, Justin was admitted to the South Carolina Bar, and began practicing law as an Assistant Public Defender in Aiken County. He later became an Associate with the Mlynarczyk Law Firm, where he practiced in the areas of Criminal Defense and Civil Litigation. Justin has also taught college-level Business Law, Civil Litigation and English courses at Trident Technical College.
Justin joined Sink Law as an Associate in December 2011 and has quickly built a solid reputation for his leadership, analytical skills and passion for the practice of law. In addition to the South Carolina Bar Association, Justin is also a member of the Charleston County Bar, and he is licensed to practice in the United States District Court of South Carolina. He currently serves in the firm’s growing Social Security Disability and Personal Injury law practice.
Justin currently lives on Daniel Island, and on weekends, enjoys running and spending time outdoors.
