Crustless Peanut Butter, Jelly Sandwiches Recalled

By Personal Injury Lawyer on March 16, 2011

Frozen, pre-made, crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are being recalled because of potential listeria contamination that can make children sick, according to news reports.

Pierre brand “pb jamwich” products, sold at Giant stores in four states including Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, are being recalled according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The sandwiches were sold in 12-count red cartons in the freezer sections at the Giant stores. Nearly 320 cases are being recalled. Consumers who think they may have the recalled items can check the a UPC code 7599921368 and “Best if purchased by 03-11-2011” in the lower right hand corner.

No reported Listeria food poisoning cases have been reported related to the sandwiches.

As a Greenwood personal injury lawyer, I urge parents to check this recall and make sure their children aren’t eating this potentially contaminated food. Listeria is a potentially fatal foodborne disease that is linked to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. It can also cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Staphylococcus can cause serious gastrointestinal illnesses, including nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. Both pathogens are more serious in the elderly and very young.

If you have been seriously injured in a food poisoning case, contact a personal injury lawyer in Greenwood.
