Authorities are investigating the Sunday afternoon death of a motorist who died after a single-vehicle crash in Westminster, say news reports.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old Westminster man was involved in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night on North Horseshoe Bridge Road outside of Westminster. The vehicle went of the right side of the road and struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to overturn. The man was ejected from the vehicle. Reports did not indicate whether or not the man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.
The Oconee County Corner’s Office reports that the man died at a Greenville medical center as a result of a head trauma suffered in the crash. The coroner has ruled that the incident was an accident.

A woman died Thursday after the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed into the Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum in Darlington, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 3:20 p.m. crash occurred when a 2000 Chevrolet four-door vehicle attempted to cross S.C. 34/151 but instead collided with the museum building.
The woman, whom the Darlington County Coroner’s Office has identified as an 81-year-old Darlington woman, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injures. A Highway Patrol spokesperson said that the octogenarian had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No one at the museum suffered any injuries, but the crash did leave a hole in the wall. The incident remains under investigation by they Highway Patrol.

A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near the Calhoun County community of Sandy Run, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 2:15 p.m. a 2001 Nissan truck driven by a 55-year-old Sandy Run man went off the right side of the road as it traveled northbound on Old Swamp Road; the vehicle then crossed back over the road, hit an embankment on the left side of the roadway and overturned approximately 16 miles west of the town of St. Matthews.
The driver of the vehicle, whom authorities say was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was thrown from the vehicle. He died of head injuries suffered after being ejected, according to the Calhoun County Coroner’s Office.

A man and his daughter were hospitalized Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 26 near the Charleston peninsula, say media sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, just before 7 a.m. Both a 2002 Hyundai vehicle and a 2010 Toyota pickup truck were traveling eastbound on I-26 when the driver of the Hyundai, a 42-year-old Charleston woman, lost control of the Hyundai, causing it to collide with the Toyota. The collision caused the pickup to overturn.
The driver of the truck, a 33-year-old Summerville man, and a female passenger identified as his daughter were transported to a Charleston medical center with unspecified injuries. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The incident remains under investigation. The driver of the Hyundai has been charged with driving too fast for road conditions.

A motorist died Monday after a single-vehicle crash in Horry County, five miles north of Conway, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at 2:35 p.m., the 72-year-old Loris man was driving a 1991 GMC pickup truck southbound on Secondary Highway 66 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a pole. Authorities say speed was not a factor in the crash.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to a Myrtle Beach medical center where he was pronounced dead. According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office, the man died of natural causes, not as a result of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

A septuagenarian man was dead Saturday morning after a single-vehicle crash in rural Cherokee County near the Spartanburg County line, say news reports.
According to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, the 70-year-old Gaffney man was driving his 2000 Toyota pickup truck westbound on Cannons Compground Road when, for unknown reasons, the truck went off the right side of the road at approximately 8:10 a.m.
The pickup then crossed back over the roadway and exited the left side of the pavement, coming to rest against a tree. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine whether the driver might have suffered a medical problem before the crash.

A woman riding in vehicle when it overturned during the wee hours of Saturday morning in Lexington County died, report media sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, just after midnight a 1999 Toyota 4-door vehicle was traveling on Fish Haterchy Road when it overturned, ejecting the 23-year-old Lexington woman. She was not wearing a seatbelt, said Highway Patrol troopers. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was declared dead.
The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified male, was transported to the same local hospital with unspecified injuries. Troopers reported that the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
The incident is under investigation by both the Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

A 4-month-old girl was killed and several other people were injured Saturday in a single-vehicle crash near Spartanburg, say media reports.
According the South Carolina Highway Patrol, shorty after 7 a.m., a Decatur, Ga. Man was driving a sport utility vehicle northbound on Interstate 85 near the Interstate 26 exit when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Four of the five occupants of the SUV including the infant, who died at the scene of the crash, and a 12-year-old girl were unrestrained at the time of the crash and were ejected from the vehicle. A 7-year-old boy, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also injured, but he was not thrown from the vehicle.

An Aiken County sheriff’s deputy was injured Tuesday when his patrol car went off the road in Monetta, say news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at 4:10 p.m. it was raining heavily, and the deputy was responding to call in his 2009 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car. The vehicle was traveling southbound in the 3800 block of Columbia Highway North when the 24-year-old law enforcement officer lost control of the vehicle. The patrol car veered off the left side of the road and overturned.
The deputy suffered unspecified injuries in crash. He was taken to an Augusta, Ga., medical center where he was treated and released. According to the Highway Patrol, the deputy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Two people died Thursday morning in Laurens when the truck they were riding in went off the road and crashed into a tree, report news sources.
According to the Laurens County coroner, at approximately 5:40 a.m. a Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling on the Highway 127 bypass near Racetrack Road when the pickup went off the road and stuck a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle. The truck came to rest against an oak tree.
The 29-year-old male driver and his 23-year-old female passenger, both of Clinton, died instantly in crash of blunt force trauma, said the coroner. According to a South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson, neither occupant of the truck was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
