A man is in custody after a he allegedly attempted to elude authorities in Horry County who were executing a traffic stop for an alleged seatbelt violation Tuesday afternoon, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident began at around 1:30 p.m. when a trooper attempted to pull over a 1999 Ford Escort driven by a 21-year-old Little River man on suspicion of the man driving without a seatbelt.
Instead of yielding, authorities say the driver took off, spurring a 10 minute chase. Troopers were eventually able to stop the vehicle; however the driver hopped out of the car and attempted to flee, say law enforcement officials. The man faces numerous charges including not wearing a seatbelt, driving under suspension, and failing to stop for a blue light.
As a Florence car accident lawyer, motorist safety is something that I am very conscious of. I encourage drivers to take safety precautions like wearing a seatbelt and adhering to traffic laws. Because of my experience as a Florence personal injury attorney, I am very aware of the split-second difference between everything seeming fine and a terrible vehicle crash. I urge motorists to always practice safe driving habits.
