NC Man Dies in Marlboro County Crash Near Bennettsville

Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a North Carolina man when the vehicle he was driving went off the road early Saturday morning in Marlboro County, report news sources.

According the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash, which was reported to authorities at 3:11 a.m., occurred a mile east of Bennettsville on Highway 9 when a 1997 Pontiac went off the left side of the road and overturned.

The driver, 51-year-old Hamlet, NC man, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over. He was declared dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., according to the Marlboro County Coroner’s Office.

Horry County Chase Ends in Seatbelt Violation, Other Charges

A man is in custody after a he allegedly attempted to elude authorities in Horry County who were executing a traffic stop for an alleged seatbelt violation Tuesday afternoon, report news sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident began at around 1:30 p.m. when a trooper attempted to pull over a 1999 Ford Escort driven by a 21-year-old Little River man on suspicion of the man driving without a seatbelt.

Instead of yielding, authorities say the driver took off, spurring a 10 minute chase. Troopers were eventually able to stop the vehicle; however the driver hopped out of the car and attempted to flee, say law enforcement officials. The man allegedly attempted arrest, forcing troopers to tase him before finally taking him into custody.

The man faces numerous charges including not wearing a seatbelt, driving under suspension, and failing to stop for a blue light.

Spartanburg Woman Dies After Being Ejected from Vehicle

A 25-year-old Spartanburg woman died after single-vehicle crash just outside of that city Wednesday night, report news sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. when the 2004 Kia that the woman was driving veered off Highway 56 as it was traveling eastbound about three miles south of the city of Spartanburg. The vehicle went off the left side of the road, hit a culvert and overturned.

The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to a local medical center where she was declared dead of her injuries Thursday night, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation through a joint effort of the Highway Patrol and Coroner’s Office.

Conway Man Dies After Truck Goes off Road, Strikes Tree

A Conway man died after the pickup truck he was driving went off the road and stuck a tree Friday morning, report media sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the early morning crash occurred at 2:25 a.m. when a 1991 Ford pickup truck traveling northbound on Still Pond Road veered off the road and struck a tree after the driver, a 45-year-old Conway man, apparently lost control of the vehicle.

The driver of the truck was transported by ambulance to the emergency room of a local hospital; he was then transferred to an area acute care medical center. The man, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, died of injuries suffered in the crash at 5:17 a.m.

Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a motorist in Pickens County early Sunday morning, report media sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. when a 1996 Dodge pickup truck traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 123 veered off the road and rolled over about nine miles south of Easley.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 22-year-old Easley man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Highway Patrol says that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash; however, the incident remains under investigation.

Bamberg Man Dies in County’s Sixth Fatal Crash of This Year

A crash about seven miles south of Bamberg on Monday afternoon killed a man from that city, report news sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 2:55 p.m. crash occurred when a 1997 Ford truck traveling westbound on Colston Road veered off the right side of the road then crossed back over the roadway, exiting on the left side where it collided with some trees and rolled over.

The driver, a 43-year-old Bamberg man whom investigators believe was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck. According to the Bamberg County Coroner’s Office, the man died from blunt force trauma suffered after being ejected from the pickup.

The man’s death marks the sixth death from a motor vehicle crash in Bamberg County this year, equal to the total number of such fatalities in the two years prior.

Anderson Man Dies in Abbeville County Crash

An Anderson motorist died after a series of collisions in Abbeville County on Saturday evening, say news reports.

According the to South Carolina Highway Patrol, at around 4:44 p.m., a 2000 Ford pickup truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 28, colliding first with a 2004 Ford driven by a Gray Court man, then with a 2008 four-door Nissan vehicle driven by an Abbeville man. The truck then veered off the road, struck a telephone pole and overturned.

The driver of the truck, a 54-year-old Anderson man who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the pickup. According to the Abbeville County Coroner’s Office, the driver died of multiple blunt trauma suffered during the crash.

A teenage driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Spartanburg, report news sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 16-year-old Spartanburg girl was driving a 1995 Ford four-door vehicle eastbound on Oak Forest Road when she lost control of the vehicle around 7 p.m. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and a drainage ditch and overturned.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, the teenager was declared dead at the scene. A 13-year-old boy who was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was taken to a local medical center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Westminster Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Rollover Accident

Authorities are investigating the Sunday afternoon death of a motorist who died after a single-vehicle crash in Westminster, say news reports.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old Westminster man was involved in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night on North Horseshoe Bridge Road outside of Westminster. The vehicle went of the right side of the road and struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to overturn. The man was ejected from the vehicle. Reports did not indicate whether or not the man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.

The Oconee County Corner’s Office reports that the man died at a Greenville medical center as a result of a head trauma suffered in the crash. The coroner has ruled that the incident was an accident.

Woman Dies After Vehicle Crashes into Darlington Museum

A woman died Thursday after the vehicle in which she was a passenger crashed into the Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum in Darlington, report news sources.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 3:20 p.m. crash occurred when a 2000 Chevrolet four-door vehicle attempted to cross S.C. 34/151 but instead collided with the museum building.

The woman, whom the Darlington County Coroner’s Office has identified as an 81-year-old Darlington woman, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injures. A Highway Patrol spokesperson said that the octogenarian had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

No one at the museum suffered any injuries, but the crash did leave a hole in the wall. The incident remains under investigation by they Highway Patrol.
