Undeclared Milk Allergen Spurs Brewer’s Yeast Tablet Recall

By Personal Injury Lawyer on October 14, 2011

In a news release Wednesday, NOW Foods announced, with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the voluntary recall of certain lots of brewer’s yeast tablets due to the presence of undeclared milk allergen.

Subject to recall are 10 grain, 650 mg brewer’s yeast tablets in 200-count and 500-count bottles. The recalled nutritional supplements contain undeclared milk allergen, which, if consumed by persons allergic or sensitive to milk, can cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. The products were distributed worldwide.

The recalled product numbers are 2410 (200-count bottles) and 2412 (500-count bottles). For product number 2410 the affected U.S. lot numbers are 1334119, 1354098, and 1362375. For product number 2412, the affected U.S. lot numbers are 1347607, 1334773, and 1358774.

Consumers who purchased the recalled tablets may return the product to the place of purchase or NOW Foods for a full refund. No receipt is necessary to receive the refund.

While we don't handle this type of case, we feel that it's important to educate the community that there has been a recall to help protect your safety. If you have been injured by any defective item, you may want to search for a lawyer who handles these types of cases.
