In a news statement, Trans-Ocean Products, Inc, in accordance with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the voluntary recall of their 4-ounce “transOCEAN Wild Alaska Sockeye Smoked Salmon” because of the potential that the products are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
This recall was initiated after the manufacturer, Trans-Ocean Products, received reports of potential contamination; however, no reports of illness have been reported in relation to these products. The 4-ounce packages of affected salmon were distributed to four separate supermarket chains across multiple states for sale. The product is vacuum-sealed in a white and green plastic pouch and bears the brand name “transOCEAN”, along with the lot number on the packaging. This recall does not affect any other products from this manufacturer.
The distribution of this product has been arrested while the company and the FDA work to investigate the source of the potential contamination.
Consumers are being asked to refrain from consuming this product and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
As a Sumter personal injury attorney, I’ve witnessed food safety recalls of this nature in the past and have seen the effects of contaminated food products on consumers. If you’ve experienced negative health effects brought on by the consumption of a defective or contaminated food product, it may be in your best interests to speak with a personal injury lawyer with experience in these matters.
