Shimano Recalls Mountain Bike Handlebar

By SinkLawAdmin on February 22, 2012

A mountain bicycle handlebar stem has been voluntarily recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with Post Moderne Corporation, Taiwan. The rider may lose control of the bike and fall while riding the bike due to bolts. The bolts hold the front plate of the stem to the stem body. They can be pulled out of the threads, resulting in a fall. Shimano is the importer of this product and one incident of the rider sustaining injury has been reported. Use of recalled bicycles with PRO Atherton handlebar stems should be stopped immediately and the product should be returned to an authorized retailer, according to news reports.
