Pedestrian Deaths Rise in South Carolina

By Personal Injury Lawyer on December 7, 2011

Pedestrian deaths are rising in South Carolina, especially in Columbia, where 10 fatalities his year happened compared to six deaths last year. “That’s six more than they had last year – quite an increase,” said S.C. Highway Patrol Capt. Brad Hughes, commander of Troop One. His troopers cover a six-county Midlands area that includes Richland, Lexington and Kershaw counties. A press conference revealed that pedestrian deaths have spiked and advised on ways to avoid thse accidents. Pedestrian deaths have risen 24% across the state. Most pedestrians who are killed were either drinking alcohol, wearing dark clothes, or walking with their back to traffic, according to news reports. “Motorists, too, can change their driving habits to help address this issue,” the officer said.

As a car accident lawyer Florence, I hope that nobody else was harmed in this crash. My thoughts are with those who were harmed. If you or a loved one were hurt in an auto accident, discuss your case with a personal injury attorney who can evaluate your claim, assess your case, help defend your rights, and answer any legal questions you have concerning your case. A personal injury lawyer can help guide you through the legal processes associated with your case in order to help ensure the best possible outcome.
