Defective Air Bags Cause Recall

Due to unsafe side air bags and an incorrect propellant mixture for their initiator component, Nissan announced a recall of certain models. The defect may result in inadequate output of compressed gas, which may result in serious injury due to the failure of air bags. Nissan is recalling certain models with this defect of year 2012 Altima and Versa vehicles. They were manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. on February 13, 2012. There are 976 affected vehicles. Nissan will replace air bag modules free of charge on February 27, 2012, according to news reports.
