A car seat used in the correct way can reduce the chances of injury or death by 70%. Parents are usually overwhelmed when it comes to the many choices of car seats for their child. A Car Seat Safety Specialist says the first step is knowing your child’s exact height and weight, then getting a car seat with the highest limits. “It’s important to choose the seat that is going to allow you to keep your child in the right stage for a longer period of time,” they said. “You want a seat that allows your child to stay rear-facing as long as possible, and that will keep them in harness straps when forward-facing for as long as possible.” Parents are often worried about when to convert their rear-facing car seat into forward-facing. Many parents disagree on what age their child should be. “Parents try to rush from stage to stage, but your child is safer rear-facing than forward-facing, and they’re safer in a harness than in a booster.” Safety regulations say a child must be harnesses until they reach 40lbs, then ride in a booster until they reach a certain height or are nine years old, according to news reports.
As a car accident attorney Orangeburg, I hope caretakers and parents are careful when selecting and using a car seat. In a news statement, Trans-Ocean Products, Inc, in accordance with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the voluntary recall of their 4-ounce “transOCEAN Wild Alaska Sockeye Smoked Salmon” because of the potential that the products are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
This recall was initiated after the manufacturer, Trans-Ocean Products, received reports of potential contamination; however, no reports of illness have been reported in relation to these products. The 4-ounce packages of affected salmon were distributed to four separate supermarket chains across multiple states for sale. The product is vacuum-sealed in a white and green plastic pouch and bears the brand name “transOCEAN”, along with the lot number on the packaging. This recall does not affect any other products from this manufacturer.
The distribution of this product has been arrested while the company and the FDA work to investigate the source of the potential contamination.
Consumers are being asked to refrain from consuming this product and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In a press statement, Giant Eagle Inc, in full cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced that the company has issued a voluntary market withdrawal of their Valu Time branded canned pumpkin products that were purchased on or after 30 August of this year. The withdrawal also extended to the company’s Food Club branded canned pumpkin product that was purchased on or after 28 October of this year.
This recall was initiated out of an abundance of caution on the part of Giant Eagle after it was discovered that these products, manufactured by Topco Associates, LLC, failed to meet certain quality standards set by the company. Giant Eagle stated in their release that, while there is no immediate health concern that they are aware of, the company is working closely with Topco to investigate the source of this drop off in quality and will alert consumers to any further required actions concerning these products.
The FDA and Giant Eagle are urged consumers not to consume these products, or anything in which they were used as ingredients, and discard them in a safe manner. Consumers can receive a full refund or replacement product from any Giant Eagle supermarket in their area.

According to news reports, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced settling with multiple Internet-based firms that were charged with illegally selling and distributing “circle” contact lenses. Circle contact lenses are a form of novelty eyewear that gives the illusion of larger eyes by covering the entire surface of the consumer’s eyes.
The FTC charged the owners of three websites with violating the 2004 Contact Lens Rule that forbids the sale of contact lenses without first obtaining a valid doctor’s prescription. The Rule also governs the sale of these cosmetic contact lenses due to the potential that these lenses have for resulting in corneal ulcers, corneal abrasions, vision impairment and blindness if they are worn improperly. The settlement fined the owners of these websites $68,000, $24,000 and $5,400 respectively for their participation in these illegal sales.

Dog bite injuries are both traumatizing and expensive, costing Americans more than $1 billion in monetary losses annually, say news sources. Fortunately, there are things that you can do to help prevent a dog bite or attack.
While out and about carry a can of bear pepper spray, which is twice as strong and shoots further than regular pepper spray, to help ward off an attack from a loose dog. Twenty percent of reported dog attacks were from dogs that were either chained or broke free from a chain. If you do see a loose dog roaming around, contact local animal control.
If it’s not possible to avoid the attack, it’s good to be prepared ahead of time by making sure you have medical insurance. About 800,000 dog attack injuries require medical attention annually, and dog bites are the fifth highest cause of emergency room visits by children.
As a Charleston personal injury lawyer, I know how important it is for an injured person to be able to seek and receive compensation after suffering the trauma of a dog attack. Seeking the advice of a Charleston personal injury attorney in the case of a dog bite is an important first step in getting that compensation.
